I also love the quote "I ain't never birthed no babies" at least I think that is the quote.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09775541598343688780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6560071949400915555.post-76320613994406008952008-05-10T09:15:00.000-05:002008-05-10T09:15:00.000-05:00Well Steviewren, I was not on good terms with Blog...Well Steviewren, I was not on good terms with Blogger yesterday, do you know what happened? I left a nice comment on your post and when I went to publish it, it vanished in the cyber ether! Aaarghh, so aggravating. Anyway, I am now taking precautions. When I write a comment, I am pressing "Copy" prior to publishing attempts. Then, if it gets lost, I simply press "Paste" and the comment appears again, for another try.

Anyway, it happened again today, when I was visiting another blog, and --voila---no worries, I simply hit "paste" and it reappeared. !

Now, I came back because this is an important post. Gone With The Wind, the book was a runaway best seller back in its day. It was a huge sensation; everyone was reading it. I read it many years ago and it is an astoundingly well-written book. Very absorbing.

I've seen the movie many times; on the big screen too, which is where it should be seen. A local independent cinema used to screen it about once a year; the turnout was huge. Sadly, this cinema went out of business; its all the big chain movie-houses now....

Anyway, my favourite scene? Hard to pin down. I love the scene in the library near the beginning, when Scarlett meets Rhett for the first time.

"You aren't fit to wipe his boots!"

Scarlett has many good lines, remember "I can shoot straight, so long as I don't have to shoot far."

"You were the one I mostly wanted to tell to go the devil".

Forgive me, I'm quoting these from memory and may have one or two of the words wrong.

This movie had it all: comedy, high drama, sweeping saga storyline...Birth, death, marriage, the whole kit and caboodle.

It made you laugh and it made you cry.

They don't make them like this anymore.Laviniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08810442216887536113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6560071949400915555.post-26675587286031387332008-05-09T18:26:00.000-05:002008-05-09T18:26:00.000-05:00Well, definitely hit all my favorite quotes there!...Well, definitely hit all my favorite quotes there! The book Gone with the Wind is even better than the movie, in my opinion. I've never seen They Met in Bombay...I'll have to check that one out! But unless you have super human speed reading skills you might need an extra day to complete the book. At over 1000 pages it is no featherweight.

Willow, I've been known to quote that Prissy scene myself.steviewrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14233066158555762167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6560071949400915555.post-64532824437167136712008-05-09T08:48:00.000-05:002008-05-09T08:48:00.000-05:00Everybody sit down. Could I read the book today and get back to you? he he he I will put it on my to do list. Seriuosly, I have always wanted to read it. I went to the restraunt web site if I am ever in Atlanta, I will have to eat there. My brother lived in Atlanta for a few years, I can kick myself for not visiting. Have a nice weekend everyone!
Denisetincanlilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07635711925466019177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6560071949400915555.post-73255935488289596992008-05-09T08:12:00.000-05:002008-05-09T08:12:00.000-05:00"I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies!" ..."I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies!"

This quote by Prissy is frequently used here at the manor. It is used to describe anything to which we are unfamiliar. Tee-hee.

(It must be quoted in a high pitched, voice, heavy on the accent.)Tess Kincaidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04889725786678984293noreply@blogger.com
