I drove down my favorite back roads today. Portions of the drive winds through a dip between two mountains. It's dark and cool. I rolled the windows down in order to hear the birds and crickets. I was reminded of driving through the Smokie Mountains.
I spent the rest of the afternoon manipulating photos I took. I love Photoshop, being off work and being free to roam.
I tried to make my photos look painterly.
How about you? Do you ever drive down favorite roads just for the joy of it?
you did a great job with the processing. i would love to drive down this road. beautiful spot.
ReplyDeleteand yes. i randomly drive roads just to try and find such beauty.
I love these photos. Dirt roads are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteLiving in a rural area I always enjoy the roads, paved or not paved. I enjoyed your pictures.

I always take the back roads, if possible. I love a drive with a view, like yours!!
ReplyDeleteI DO drive down favorite roads for the joy of it and ALWAYS with camera in hand. Love the barn!

There is a popular show on the BBC called "Top Gear", which is a car show. I love it, it is funny and entertaining. One of the hosts once said" No one ever drives just to take a drive anymore", and I thought to myself, how true that is. I do not think I can recall when I did that last time. I only do when I have visitors.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your lovely drive with us. Loved what you did to the pictures too.;))
xoxo
Yes I drive down roads just to take photos. Your painterly photos are amazing.
ReplyDeleteNow what you need to do Stevie, is turn your passion into some kind of lucrative business, so you don't have to go back to work!
ReplyDeleteLove your manipulations, especially the cows.

If I had a car and lived out in the burbs I would ... I do take my camera and wander on foot .. I am always up for a good wander .. .PS is not my friend but I am liking how you use its effects
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures and what you did to them. I need photo shop! Your last post has really got me thinking about what is going on in my life, or what is not going on in my life. I need more in it, to be more challenged and try new things! I think after the house is done, I am going to see what photo shop is all about! You have inspired me!

Yes, I drive roads when I feel the need to get out. I like your painterly photos. The cows are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteYep. Love old, curvy, shady roads (which means I don't do that much out here!).
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have the painterly look down. I love that effect!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the last time I took a drive just for the fun of it!
That red barn is a classic! I love taking longs drives when I travel back to my hometown in Ohio. It's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
jj
I've been having fun playing with PS lately too...but you have really captured a "painterly" look...I love the barn especially.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are able to take advantage of your extra time by wandering along these beautiful roads...I don't do it nearly as often as I would like or should...
Yeah I have. I'm from Malaysia and from this little town called Ipoh. We've got plenty of back roads here. Each and everyone has a different stall of food to eat at. LOL. Yeah my town is known for food.s :)
ReplyDeleteNow Stevie...I always enjoy your drives with snaps of what you see...absolutely charming. I too, prefer an outta the way, country route to any highly traveled road!
ReplyDeleteMy back roads don't lead to such picturesque spots such as yours, Stevie! Good job with Photoshop. I don't have that program as yet.
ReplyDeleteI do like to take subway rides to new spots to explore in the city
:-) There is so much I have yet to see!
I really like to get away from the city, up around the Napa area and drive around the vineyards and back roads there. It is so breathtakingly beautiful, any time of the year but, especially so in winter or early spring when hordes of tourists are not around. A little south of where I live, you run into coastal farms and it's beautiful there as well.
