Random Photo Day

These are  a few of the random subjects that have prompted me to pull my camera out of my purse recently and snap a couple or twenty or thirty.   ;  )

As you can tell, I've been primarily inspired by light and shadow.  It's the time of year when the position of the sun changes to a lower angle on the horizon, causing shadows to fall in sharper angles....therefore inspiring me.

This last photo is of a project in progress. I'll take more photos when it's all together.

Tag!
You're it!
Get out there and take some photos of the shadows of October before the month and the sun have moved on.

  1. To me, this is what photography is mostly about.. light and shadow.. oh, and texture. Beautiful photos, one and all.

  2. It looks like you are having fun. There is a blog that encourages what they call Shadow Shot Sunday each week. Maybe you need to participate in that. I don't but it has made me look at shadows a little closer.

  5. Beautiful images, I truly love the one of the acorn...
Interestingly, to me photographs are all about colours, setting or mood and composition.;) But when I paint, I see and try to capture shadows and light, as that is what makes a painting alive. So I understand the sentiment.;)
    Have a lovely day,
    xo

  7. Interesting photos Steviewren. Yes, it is strange how dramatic winter photos can be with long black shaddows - Dave

  8. It really is all about the lighting, isn't it? I can really tell a difference in my own photos. Yours are beautiful!

  9. I have noticed October's beautiful "certain slant of light" that Emily Dickinson wrote about. The afternoons glow and the sunsets have been so beautiful. I love the acorn photo! I'd frame that one.

  10. You are a mind reader. I have noticed over the past few days the beautiful amber glow the sun is casting into my house. It looks so nice. The bright summer sunshine is gone. I miss it. I live in New England and fall is in full bloom. I can not fight it, so I will embrace it, for now! You have never seen a sunny day until the day after a snow storm. The sky is blue, the sun is shinning and the ground is covered in white snow. Those days are around the corner. I will try to get some random shots of fall. My eye is not as good as yours, but I will try. I am curious about the last picture, it looks very interesting.

  16. I truly don't have a photographers eye, but admire those who do. This is admirable work :-)

For my part, I was wondering what all the chairs were hiding from, atop the tables ;-)

Nicely done. I liked this grouping of images, there was something comforting...and yet just a tiny bit foreboding. I think images of the every day world have that great, tingling sense of "Something is about to happen!"

Like that photo of the plant, don't you half expect one of the leaves to be pushed aside, and to find yourself being regarded by some sort of creature?

I do. Like I said, I don't have a photographers eye, you clearly do.

  17. We are just into our Spring here and I'm noticing a little more light and shadow play as the days grow sunnier and warmer. I like your selection of photographs, my fav is the chain and wood*!*

  18. Wonderful random photos and well deserving of POTW. Light and shadow are awesome elements in photographs and you've done both of them proud in these.
