Tagged!

I have been tagged by the lovely Marina of Only Cute Things to answer the following questions about myself,

1: What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was going through a difficult time. My marriage of 26 years was falling apart and I was deciding what to do with myself for the rest of my life. My oldest son was recently married and I had a 20 something son at home as well as 2 teenagers. We used the time to draw closer as a family, so even though it was the worst of times it was also the best of times( to quote a favorite story).
2: Five things on my to do list?
1: See the Aurora Borealis before I die.
2: Pull the wallpaper down in my bathroom and make the shower curtain that I have had the material for since March.
3: Get all the broken stuff around my home fixed.
4: Dream up a great idea which I will use to make enough money to quit work and be self employed.
5: Find birthday presents for 3 granddaughters so that their aunt can take presents with her when she goes to visit them next week.
3: Snacks I enjoy?
Almonds and cashews.
4: Things I would do if I was a Millionaire?
Travel, travel, and travel, set up college funds for my grandchildren and finish college myself.
5: Places I have lived?
I have always lived in Alabama....places I would like to live? The beach for a summer, the mountains during the fall, London for 6 months, Edinburgh for 6 months, I'd like to take a 6 month road trip in the USA, spend weeks, maybe months in Spain, France and most of all I would like to live in Scandinavia during the summer. I have always wanted to be in the far north for the summer solstice because I want to watch the sun go down and come right back up.

If you would like to play along please consider yourself tagged!

  1. Hi Steviewren. Wow, these questions really make you stop and think. 10 years on from your marriage ending, and it seems that you are in a 'good' place. I hope it continues to get better and better.

Your list of things to do: I hope you do them all! Hope you give us a peek of the shower curtain once its done.

Snacks you enjoy: yes, yes, salty, check, crunchy, check.

Millionaire: Isn't travel an education in itself? You could combine your two goals and attend college overseas, say art history in Rome?

Places you have lived: very unique that you would want to go to Scandinavia in the summer. Maybe with global warming that would be the most comfortable climate to be in too...

  2. Scandinavia in the summer is up there on my list, too...anywhere nice and cool. :)

Always fun to get to know you a little better.

(Okay, next time I'm in the mood to russell up something yummy, I'll do it at your place.)

  3. I have been tagged too. Your idea of travel is the way it should be. No long weekends, just months as a time. How great would that be? Ah, the life of the rich and famous. I would love a road trip through the USA. I should of put that on my to do list. It may be years off, but it might be fun to think about what I would like to see. You have got me thinking.
It has been a long day...hot here high 80's. Believe what they say about weather in New England it will be in the 60's tomorrow.

  6. Thanks for the good wishes, I am in a good place now. Salty, crunchy mmmm mmm good, travel more mmmm good, education is definitely what I like about travel, knowing the world better. History in Rome sounds heavenly.

Summer in Scandinavia compared to Alabama in my mind=summer+sun -heat+humidity=nice! I love the spring but it just doesn't last very long here. Temp is into the 90s here this week. It will be this hot and worse from now until October.

Rachel, I didn't think you were up to another project at my house this summer but anytime you want to peel wallpaper is a good time for me!
