Rain, Leaves, Seeds

View of downtown Birmingham from Rachel's hospital room on Sunday.

The view Monday when it rained all day long.

The view out my window Tuesday morning.  Someone get started on the ark please!

The driveway when I left the house later that afternoon.

I came home that night to find that my neighbor had blown my driveway completely clear of leaves.
Thanks Neighbor!

On a different note, I'm 56 and I've never tasted a pomegranate, so I bought one the other day.

Interesting....crunchy....citrusy....think I'm going to add the seeds to my spinach salad for lunch.

  1. Sounds yummy on the salad. I'm more of a cranberry gal myself.

  2. I have never bought a pomegranate either. I have had concotions that have it mixed in. I don't ever even see them for sale around here.
You have had so much excitement in your life right now. Your neighbors are very nice.

  3. That's a lot of rain! Coincidentally my wife and I have enjoyed several pomegranates over the last several weeks. They require a bit of patience to prepare, but what a marvelous fruit rich with antioxidants.

  4. I love the picture of your house with the sea of leaves! I would not want to rake them though. What a nice neighbor to clear them off of your driveway.

  5. That is one nice neighbor! I am not a big fan of pomegranates, way to much work. However, I did have a pomegranate martini on Saturday, that was very good.

  8. I've always enjoyed but only started eating the full seeds last year. I always thought that they were too much work until someone said.. pssst you're supposed to eat the full seed. Oops. Ok.. now I love them. :)

  9. Well, this must be the week for nabbing foods at the grocery that we've never tried, because I picked up a spaghetti squash that I've never, ever considered buying before and it's still sitting on my counter. I have no idea what to do with it.

  10. Every year I wait impatiently for pomegranates to arrive in the stores...have always loved that tartness...and the crunch. I love them on salads....Did you like it?

...and what a nice neighbor you have!

  11. Oh, we are so much further ahead in or weather, almost all leaves are gone.;) But we too have foggy drizzly days now.;)
Love the view of your house.;)
I think I have tasted this fruit in Brazil, or at least some very similar.;))

  12. Great photos! Love the pomemgranite..adn the fact that you bought it. I did that last spring with a pair of ridiculously shiny red shoes that I fell in love with. Had never owned a red pair, and so now I do! Still haven't worn them though! How did the pom taste?

  13. As I recall the seeds should not be swallowed .. you sort of suck the juice out of them and then spit

  14. Congrats on the baby Gran. May she be healthy with no problems throughout the winter. The art you showcased is pretty impressive. And how did the pomegranate taste for you?
