What's Your Style?

Anybody here watch the HGTV show named Secrets of a Stylist?  Decorator Emily Henderson is the host. She quizzes her clients and diagnoses their design styles. I love the names she comes up with, like Eclectic Cool, or Mad Men Bohemian for their decorating preferences. I would love to know what name she would assign to my this and that style. Maybe I would be Frustrated Artsy Mod English Country. What do you think she would name your style?

I'm a lover of stuff.  Especially when it is artfully arranged on shelves or hanging on the walls.

The pictures on the wall are actually framed book covers, which I think is a clever idea for a different kind of art.
I love color, so I'm always attracted to rooms with rich hues and shades.

But most of all, I love rooms that are flooded with natural light. There is no substitute for big windows and wide open spaces.

What about you?  What kind of room would you be at home living in?

  1. I don't watch that show but I like the idea of different names for styles. These names seem more to the point. My style is hmmmm. Isn't it difficult to name ones own style. I do know that our house colors are very brown and green. I had a black and white cat once and she stood out like a sore thumb. She couldn't hide anyplace. Ha... Maybe you would say my style is Earthy Traditional with a touch of whimsy. I think the word Ecclectic would fit here too.

  2. I'm hooked on Emily Henderson and like you, love the names she gives to a person's style. I am trying to figure out if I have a style. New furniture for our living room arrives tomorrow and the 1980's stuff has been sent to the basement. Maybe my style would be called "Out with the old, in with the new!" LOL!

  3. actually i think the mad men bohemian suites me. i love comfy, early to mid-century (20th), vintage, but i love touches of gypsy/bohemian with candles, throws, etc. in the kitchen i want comfortable farmhouse but modern.

  4. I must have similar tastes to you as I love all these photos you posted...I think they would call my style "Hand-me-down and flea-market eclectic"

  5. I'm such a mix of interests, too. I love all the photos you chose here. Lots to look at and great conversation pieces. I have walls and shelves just like these...love my 'stuff'. The problem is dusting! ha. It's impossible.

  6. So I'm curious any of the above taken from your home? I know silly question. I don't have full cable so have not seen this show. It might be a good thing I don't because I would not get anything done. :)

  7. We made the move from college dorm to adult when we bought the love seat and got the lady slipper arm chair ... my style is cluttered with a lot of what Toonman calls 'still lifes' .. what you call artfully arranged stuff, LOL ... eclectic is my style ... sort of cottage/Boho ...

  9. these are absolutely lovely- and so neat and tidy, I live in a messy (but clean) place which I guess I must like. Every know and then I fervently tidy everything away only for it to start reappearing within ten minutes.

  10. I like much of what you like, but would not think, on my own, to make such combinations!

I'm a bit schizophrenic in my style preferences. Half of me strongly likes airy, white, barely there decor, and the other half loves wild eclectic color (Anthropologie!)

  11. My style is comfy and lived in. I like "stuff: and books, too, and have a lot of collectibles neatly arranged. I also have lots of family photos on the wall in mismatched frames. I love my house to be lived in!

I hope all these bad storms and tornados are far away from your area, Stevie. It has been a terrible tornado spring so far!
