2008-A Year In The Life Calendar

I bundled up my 2008 desk calendar and brought it home yesterday. I'm going to make a front and back cover for it, add binder rings and voila...I will have encapsulated a year in my life.

Keeping a visual record of my year was fun. Some days the entries were just doodles, some days I recorded the day's happenings and some days I used the calendar as a place to vent.

My 2009 calendar is waiting for me....I'll do this again next year.

I thought you might like a look.

Just Some Nonsense!

There was an Old Man with a beard,

Who said, 'It is just as I feared! -

Two Owls and a Hen,

Four Larks and a Wren,

Have all built their nests in my beard!'

-Edward Lear, "Book of Nonsense"

Today was almost unbearably long. So glad it is over! How about your day? Got any
news to report?

Interesting Things

The interesting things that happened today would fit in a nutshell. I saw a hot air balloon on the way to work. That hasn't ever happened before.

Here are the pictures to prove it. They are all drive-by shootings. I grabbed the camera as soon as I saw the tip of the balloon over the trees. I snapped the shots all the way down the road. But I won't make you look at all of them, even though it was the best thing that happened all day.

And that's it. That's all. Done.

Oh yeah, I drew too. It's a good thing I like to draw, otherwise my reports would probably have had random words written all over them (cause that is the other thing I do when I have pen in hand and paper in front of me) and unless Diahn was hosting Writober instead Artober, I wouldn't have anything else to blog about today since nothing interesting happened. So.....

Here are the pictures to prove it.....I placed my subject (art talk for leaf I picked up outside the office door) beside the leaf I drew and taped on my daily calendar to show....well the subject of today's artistic endeavor.

I'm not so great with leaves. I overworked it I think. But it is hard to make a leaf color when all you have is orange, yellow and purple highlighters, a pencil, a red and black pen to come up with something that resembles coppery brown.
I also made this quick sketch of my co-worker. The head is all wrong, but it is what it is.

And now I'm done. In a nutshell.

TGIF

I love Fridays. Friday is the best day of the week next to Saturday which is the most bestest day of all. I can do whatever the heck I want to. I can wake up whenever I want to. I can wear my pajamas all weekend if I want to....not that I do......Friday is good because it is the day of the week when you know you can endure anything because in 8 hours it will all be over. Saturday is better because it is the day when no one named boss can tell you what to do. Tomorrow is Saturday and I will be my own boss all day. And I am going to enjoy that!

Here is what I drew today.

Now I have to go to bed because I am the boss of me and I said so. See ya later alligators!

Calendar Girl

Like I've said before, sometimes I use the calendar for a journal, but most of the time I cut and paste doodles I sketch on the blank portions of reports or stuff I draw on post-it-notes.

Thinking about my vacation.

I printed out some quotes and taped them down on random dates. When I turn a page and find a quote I've chosen, I am able to contemplate its truth anew or I can laugh out loud again at its humor.

When work was slow I used my time to clean a co-worker's desk. I was that tired of looking at her mess.

I've experimented with my limited color palette of work pens and highlighters to express feelings in my sketches.

Hectic day-visually recorded.

I love drawing faces. I look around for other inspiration. I always come back to the face.

Day dreaming.

More day dreaming once I was back from vacation. Sorry Carl, it seems I'm a failure at the secret of happiness.

"She is feeling hot in a cold world." Maybe she is experiencing some changes in her life...how old are you honey?

Just some random observations.

Now you are up to date on my life.
