I dropped some postcards in the mail today. Most of you should start receiving them soon. Thanks to all of you who decided to play along.
I decided to post 2 sketches tonight for my Artober offering. Both were done with a phone mashed to my ear while I waited on customers to pick up. As usual the medium was blue, black and red ballpoint pens, yellow, orange, green, purple, blue and pink highlighters and a red Sharpie on computer report paper.
This one has the side torn off of it....you can save a bad picture by cutting off the offending parts. I like what's left. I looked at a postcard a customer sent us. It is a picture of a still life with fruit on a white plate.
This next one is ....yes you guessed it....a face. I can't stop drawing faces. I try to draw other things, but I always come back to the face. This girl came out of my head.
If the leaves are turning beautiful fall colors at your home, please post some pictures for me. It is so dry here. If it doesn't rain soon our fall will just be brown.
It's amazing what you can do with a few pens and highlighters from your office desk! :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting some postcards!
Terrific drawings - love your use of media and support! Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteBrown, brown, brown... dry, dry, dry. I'm still watering my outdoor plants, hello, it's October! You shared some nice color with us. I like your still life.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to receive postcards.
I really love how you draw on printed paper -- what a cool look! If the leaves ever start to turn here, I'll be sure to post you a pic of some color!
ReplyDelete:-)
Your sketches look cool on that printout paper! Yes, and I'm looking forward to the postcards, too!
ReplyDeleteNice sketches. I especially like the fruit.
ReplyDeleteNice drawings as usual. You really should do something with them.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves are not in full color yet, but I will post pictures when they are alive with color!
The ghost cookies will be a nice project for the weekend. They can also be made into Santas. Nutter Butters, who knew?
Stevie, don't worry about us having beautiful leaves and cool weather. I think we are right there with you guys. Aren't you sick of the heat?? I am. yuk. It cools down a little and then back to this junk. I have a fan on me right now.(Plus I enjoy the white noise). I can't wait to get the cards. I think if you keep going back to faces that is what you should draw. They always have neat expressions and I enjoy them. I agree with the others..the reports you do them on look so modern and cool. I really like the fruit too. I can't help but doodle and draw when I am on the phone too. I really don't think everyone does because I see everyone else in my office's desk and I don't see much of it. Of course, most of them are scientists. Maybe that is the difference. This is getting too wordy. luv ya, Trish
ReplyDeleteI love your sketches in your daily life and how they are done on the detritus of your life. And ballpoint/hilighter? Genius.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda and Rowena. Thanks for stopping by my blog. And thank you for the compliments.
ReplyDeleteStevie, the blending and shading of tones is remarkable, I can't believe these are just highlighters!
ReplyDeleteThe second pic...the face....I have two names that come to mind. One is Daryl Hannah (!) and the other is our friend and fellow blogger Debby. Something about the expression in the eyes.
I know that Debby has been on your mind as she has been on mine.
Great drawings Stevie! Everyone seems to be drawing.....either for artober or the big draw.
ReplyDeleteHere everything is brown and a bit yellow, but we have had lots of rain lately. I don´t like fall.
I still haven´t made your soup but I saved the recipe on my pc for later.
Have a nice day Stevie and thanks for stopping by!
>M<
omg i love them both, you have such talent. wow.
ReplyDeleteLavinia, I see what you mean about the girl. She does make me think of Debby now that you've drawn my attention to it. Did you read the update her daughter posted on her blog. I'm glad to know how things are going.
ReplyDeleteAs to the color and blending. I think it is fun to use only a limited amount of pens and colors. It makes me have to think and be inventive to achieve the look I want. Also it has freed me up to do things I wouldn't do otherwise, like use crazy colors to express emotions. I like working this way so much I bought a set of highlighters for use at home. : )
Yes I have been reading Debby's blog every day to keep updated. The girl in your pic also has a similar tilt to the head as Debby's pic. The subconcious mind a-swirl, perhaps, when you were drawing that?
ReplyDeletei so love that you do that at work!! i often sketch and write poetry or at least rhyming words at work. my new job (since may) is a bit of a yawner. i miss my old job and all the creativity! your fruit sketch is my favorite - so nice!
