Although considered a troublesome weed, did you know that when the leaves of the Thistle are ground up to destroy the prickles that they make an excellent fodder for cattle?
Did you know that the variety of plant known as the Blessed or Holy Thistle has a reputation for healing. It was supposed to be helpful in the doctoring of a variety of diseases such as vertigo, yellow jaundice, headaches, dropsy (what the heck is that?) and many types of sores. It was even thought to cure the plague.
Just thought you might like to know.
