The bundle of sunflowers I purchased Saturday morning didn't survive the hot ride and the couple of stops along the way home. As soon as I arrived, I cut the stems and put them in a vase of water, but they were already too far gone to revive completely.
So, I am on to plan #2. I'm either going to let the heads dry and harvest the seeds for next year or I'm going to dry the heads and set them outside for birdfeeders.
Either way their sunny loveliness makes me smile.
That is so sad about your flowers! But I guess when you get lemons...lemonade! You know the saying. That must of been one hot car!
ReplyDeleteI am a turkey sandwich girl! I love them with cranberry! Um, maybe I will have one for lunch tomorrow.

oh no! poor babies but great ideas though. plus, they make great macro shots too
ReplyDeleteOh too bad. I love those happy faces and bright colors of the sunflowers.
ReplyDeleteDarn the luck. Sunflowers are not a sturdy as they seem. Beautiful colors though.
ReplyDeleteLove that second shot!
ReplyDeleteLove this banana shade of yellow!
ReplyDeleteThey sure do look quite lovely up close and personal like that. In either way, you have a good plan.
ReplyDeleteI rather like them a little wilty. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is so many wonderful things about sunflowers; including the colour and the way they turn towards the sun. I am sure you are aware of the beauty of parts of Tuscany, where there are wide and large sunflowers fields surrounded by green meadows, cypress trees and old stone buildings. That landscape makes for some stunning images.;))

Despite wilting they are SO BEAUTIFUL. I love to bring home a bouquet of flowers for NO REASON AT ALL!!!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the BLT on your side bar is SOOOOOO enticing!!
I never realized the centers were so lovely .. almost as if there's a garden of teensy flowers growing there ..
ReplyDeleteYou should plant some! They don't need good soil, just good drainage. They grow really well. I love sunflowers, they always make me think of vacation - as we'd round the bend and come out of the woods, there would be my grandpa's corn field, fronted by tall, smiling sunflowers. That 185 acres just got sold out of the family. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, they still make a lovely shot. You won't let them go to waste, I love that.
ReplyDeleteHow nice it'd be to have them growing and looking cheerful :)
