Once in a Blue Moon

Snow on Christmas in Alabama is so rare.....so rare that today was the first white Christmas for me ever.

My youngest son and I have gone north to Madison, Alabama to spend the night on Christmas Eve with my oldest son and his family for the last 4 or 5 years.  All seven of us trek up there after spending Christmas Eve evening at my parent's home, along with my 2 siblings, their husbands and children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, all the cousins, and assorted girlfriends and boyfriends....I woke this morning to find a sight I've never seen....snow covering the ground and more pouring down.

TJ left home with no coat, not even a jacket, but that didn't stop him from helping get Frosty on his feet.

I hope everyone had a merry and memorable Christmas 2010!

  1. These are some memorable shots Stevie. The family even has a snowman to remember. All of those Christmas songs about snow will really resonate in the future. We had our first snowy Christmas since 2004. It is really fun for a change.

  16. I am finally finding some time to visit my blogging friends to belatedly wish them a merry and bright Christmas season and a wonderfully joyous New Year! I am finding that at each blog I visit I receive a little gift...The gift I received here was that of laughter...as I look at all you southerners frolicking in the snow:) We didn't have snow here in RI on Christmas!...the storm reached us the day after.

  17. That's a big snowman! Your family looks like it had such a good time frolicking in the snow :)

We got over two feet of snow last night! Not so much fun shoveling out from under it today. I won't be able to get my car out for a week.

  18. It is not unusual for us to have a White Christmas, living as we do in NW Pennsylvania. It isn't a given, though, that we have a White Christmas. It always seems magical when we do have a White Christmas. I'm happy that you had a White Christmas!

  19. I looked at your pictures and I thought, "Snow...somehow when Stevie takes pictures, it becomes magical." and I wondered that I didn't see it that way, so I went to the window and stood wrapped in my snuggie and drinking my coffee and I stared out the window, and waited to feel the magic.

It didn't happen. I'm glad you found it though.
