Reuse-Recycle...the Creative Way

I haven't had much time to put into being creative lately, but I have made and mailed a few mail art pieces. This was a advertising postcard that came in the mail last month.  I especially loved the 50% off font on the original piece, so I decided to repurpose the card.

I cut and pasted and added a bunch of images.

back

Not much remained of the original card when I was done. (the 50% image is the only visible part of the original)

What are some creative ways you try to reuse everyday advertising or packaging?

  2. Love your new background color! I agree it is very cheerful! I love what you did with the card! Good to see you being creative again! I I actually just cut up a Christmas card I received this year, to make a new card for a last last minute gift. Now, I want to craft all day! However, I have to deliver a few gifts today. There's always tomorrow!

  4. I'm really into reusing greeting cards as well. The covers are so perfect for collages and make beautiful art all over again. Lately, since my passion for painting has died down a bit, I've been taking photos of my work, printing them on 4x6 photo paper and making my own greeting cards out of them. Still allows me to feel connected to my art and still be creative.

  5. I am SO NOT creative I'm afraid:( The best I have ever done with my old cards is to cut them up to use as tags for the next years Christmas gifts...I always admire creative, crafty folk!...like you!

  7. Everything is looking so bright and cheerful on your blog Stevie!

I sometimes re-use everyday cards and package by cutting them with decorative punches and then using the colorful punches to fashion designs on writing paper, envelopes and cards.

  8. Clever -- I like to use magazine pages to cover my work notebooks -- makes very interesting covers -- easy to find in a pile -- you get a bonus of great photography rather than the dull mono-colored covers. -- barbara

  10. On a cruise once, during a craft session, they taught us house to recycle a pretty card to make
a small box for a gift, ie, earrings, or a ring. It was so easy and turned out beautifully. I've got the directions somewhere but I haven't done it yet.....I fully intend to do so one of these days.

  11. When I get cards (what ever the occasion) I cut off the picture part and then glue it to a piece of scrapbook paper cut to boarder around it and then glue it on a plain or colored handled bag bought in bulk. Voila - instant gift bag!
