How I'm Like Every Gramma

Warning! I'm about to brag shamelessly.

I think I'm like every grandparent on earth when I say that my grandchildren are talented geniuses.

Case in point....I'm thrilled that all of the children that are old enough to hold pen or pencil are both artistic and creative.

Showing MK (almost 7 yrs old) other ways to draw a face.

LC (5 yrs on the 4th) draws a funny face with me.

EG (8) begins writing and Illustrating a book

Notice the details on the part in the hair and the braids.

This story isn't finished yet.

I've told the girls crazy made up stories since they were small. Stories about walking household appliances and ducks and talking sewing machines. For a long time now most of the stories have centered around the adventures of a little red haired girl who loves to hunt for dinosaur bones. Whenever I am with them I have to tell 2 or 3 stories each night. None are particularly good, but they satisfy the girls. I have long tried to get them to tell me a story when I tired of telling them. Now, I am thrilled to find that they have turned into imaginative storytellers themselves. In fact, some of their stories have been so long I've had to impose word limits or they would never end....."okay, it's getting late...you have 30 more words....think of an ending!"

Indulge me by agreeing. These kids are special...especially since they're my grandchildren!

  4. I think that's brilliant myself. I love the writing stories - I can remember doing that too. I bet she will be an author one day.

  5. "Then she stepped on a creaky board". I love that. My daughter was quite the story teller at that age, too. I miss it.

  10. Hi Steph,

Wow! I didn't know if you can understand turkish language, lol:) But how could you read the small fonts on the photo? Yep, the book I've been reading is Angela'nin Külleri, or Angela's Ashes by F McCourt. Beautiful blue 'sharp' eyes that you've got!

As for talented kids, I am not surprised when I think of you. DNA talks:)

Kisses & big hugs for your grandchildren~

  13. Well, of course I agree! It's so obvious...:) I enjoyed the drawings, but I particularly enjoyed the story. Tell her I want to know what happens next. My great-aunt had a big old sea-chest that we were not allowed anywhere near, so of course we had all kinds of speculations about what was in there! Now I can finally find out.
