Postcard Friendship Friday

My computer is full of "borrowed" images. The Internet is a gift box chocked full of any and every sort of beautiful picture, artwork, painting, photograph....postcard you could ever think to go in search of.

I saved these images of Japanese postcard backs because I thought the lettering was beautiful.

Sorry, I have no idea if the orientation is right side up or upside down. Please enjoy the beauty of the characters and color.

Happy PFF.

  3. Oh my, what a nice surprise for me! Yes, Stephanie. All of them you put in the very right direction, upside down. I can easily read them. My collection covers many cards I had received from my japanese friends. Zembu subarashii yo. Ki ni irimashita:)

    Ja mata ne.

  4. I always think Japanese and Chinese script, and others of that type, is so beautiful and artistic - though I can't read a word. Lovely.

  7. This is lovely; they are an art in themselves.;)
First I thought they are facing the wrong direction, but I think they are actually completely correct.;)Now if we only knew what the writing said.;)
    Have a great Friday!;)

  9. I agree with you about the Japanese writing being intresting. I also think Chinese and even the Arabic writing is intrigueing. At an auction I found a diary that had Arabic writing in it. I wanted to know what it said so bad. The items being sold were of a college student that left their items in a storage unit. I bet the college student was homesick and went home and left all the contents of their apartment in storage. At least that is the story I made up in my head. This was way before internet was a common tool to use for sleuthing.

  19. I love Chinese and Japanese characters. I often wonder how on earth you set about learning it. The same goes for Arabic, though I believe that does follow sounds.
