This Is How We Do It

What do we do in Alabama when it sleets and makes the roads slippery?

We get off work early so we can creep home in bumper to bumper traffic.

And what happened to the sleet you ask?

Why, it turned to rain.

Plain old regular rain.

So how long did it take you to make the 30 minute drive home you ask?

Oh, just a mere 2 hours and 45 minutes.

And what did you do for 2 hours and 45 minutes
while your car barely rolled along?

Well of course, I rolled the windows down and took pictures.

A girl has got to amuse herself in whatever way she can find.

No freeways for me....I chose the route with only one overpass or bridge.

The long slow route.

But I did see this pink house.

Don't you wish you were me?

  1. Well I am very glad you made it home safely. If it weren't for the driving winter would not be so bad! Thanks for sharing the places you see on the way home...it was fun to ride along with you!

  4. That pink house is awesome! Pretty church, too.

I'm glad you made it home safely. Ice is not fun to drive on...I would much rather drive in snow.

  5. I can remember when it took me 3.5hours to drive home, when it usually only took 30 min, in a snow storm. It wasn't through town I had highway driving to do and there wasn't much to look at. I had plent of time to think about if I got stuck I could freeze to death. DRAMA. Ha... You had a much better view.

  6. Our icy day melted and the snow that was predicted to cover it and make life even, if possible, more treacherous never happened .. but now we're due more snow tomorrow.. this will be the winter that keeps on giving!

  10. Sort of comical the crawling in snowy weather ~ always amuses me round here that in those circumstances more 4x4s than usual take to the roads showing off and just waiting for an opp to help folks out of snow drifts even when it's just spitting with sleet. I like the chapel with the red door.

  12. Interesting concept: that the freezing rain turns to rain during the ride home. I like that. I think I'm going to propose that Pennsylvania adopt this...

  13. Debby, freezing rain turned to plain rain....ie, no longer a road hazard...but too late, everyone was stuck in the mass exodus anyway!

  16. Ugh. It's days like these when I dream of having a fantastic audiobook to listen to in the car.
A really good one will save me from having a case of road rage like nothing else will!

I'm glad you stopped by and I look forward to your comments. As Dr. Fraser Crane would say, "Hello, I'm listening."
