Amazing

My son and his family returned home today. Power was restored to their corner of the world, so they packed up and headed up the interstate late this afternoon. It was fun having them here even if the circumstances weren't optimum.

I had no idea how many communities were hit by tornadoes on the 27th. Slowly, the news has trickled in. Everyone has seen the devastation in Tuscaloosa, but there are so many other places that were hit hard as well.

We were blessed. None of our friends or family were lost in the storm, but so many others were affected.  It's amazing to see the way people pull together in times of trouble. People giving of their time and money and know how.

I'm so proud of my community. Alabamians are amazing.

  3. I think that when we all come up against hard times, we all work together. Glad you're seeing that in your own community. Did your house get damaged?

  10. That's good news Steph. We had a bad tornado hit Auckland last night. Two people died and about 40 injured. Much damage, but it was only local and of short duration. Its amazing how well people respond at times like that. Glad no one you knew were hurt, or your family - Dave

  11. Hi Steph, we returned to the mountain yesterday.
We had been waiting for power to return in the Birmingham area. Yes, we are thankful to have been spared the destruction that we saw coming up 231 and 79.

  12. I think about Alabama daily. Hope things will return to somewhat normal for many of those folks soon.. Okay, maybe it won't be normal, but certainly better than the past week or so anyway.
