You Might Be

You might be a redneck if ....you have an above ground pool and you fish in it.

You might be a redneck if...you think "trash TV " is something in your backyard.

I hope Alabama isn't the only place you can see this type of thing.

My daughter and I drove up to the B-N-B yesterday...the bent and dent grocery store. I had to stop in the middle of the road and take this picture. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't begin to tell the whole story. There was so much stuff in the yard it defies the imagination.

I'm just saying maybe its time to call one of those reality shows like Clean Sweep or something because they need an Extreme Home Makeover.

  1. There's something to be said for deed restricted neighborhoods. I've seen this guys relatives in Citrus Park, Fl. A few blocks over we have one of those folks who couldn't decide on a lawn ornament so they just kept buying. And buying. Plus added red white and blue plastic flowers for added cheesy effect.

  2. There is a place like this only bigger and spookier on I-70 between us and Indianapolis. We always call it the "Jeepers Creepers" place.

  4. How about a house that has an owner 'sculptor' who sculpts weird looking things and puts them all out on his lawn and leaves them there for years? Such a house is a couple of miles away (too close!)

  5. haha....what a relief to find out that there are people like this all over the place.

I especially love people who have lots of yard ornaments.

There used to be a place on the way to the lake that would have taken years to sift through the junk in their yard and porch and in the cars in the yard and hanging from the roof line....

  6. There is a house that I pass on my Monday drive to Erie. It has a pile of bowling balls in the yard with a hand lettered sign that says 'Balls!' There is also a toilet there that had an artificial leg sticking out of it. However, someone kept stealing the leg, so now there's just a commode in the front yard. Artists!

  7. Debby, I am intrigued by your messy neighbors...at least they are slobs with a sense of humor.

  8. LOL!!! Oh no! We have more than our fair share of this sort of thing in KY and do we ever have yard ornaments.. On a stretch of highway called The Mountain Parkway you can see a giant boulder crushing a car on one side of the road and cock fighting pens on the other -complete with junked cars and yard ornaments all along the front yards...After reading the other posts, isn't it nice to know that the stereotypes about this one don't only apply to us in the South East..LOL!!

  10. I am sure everyone has a yard like that in their area. I watched a little of the opening ceremonies Friday, it was spectacular!

  11. Yep --we have them in NY too Steviewren. It's not just "red necks" but damn yankees too! LOL!

There is even a man who drives around in a car painted psychadelic colors with toys glued all over it and speakers on the roof playing bizarre music. Everyone gives him plenty of room on the road...lol!

I'm glad you stopped by and I look forward to your comments. As Dr. Fraser Crane would say, "Hello, I'm listening."
