Confounded

I'm in a part of town I've only been to once before with a friend. I decide to return home by the scenic route she used. It's raining pretty heavily, but I set off down the dirt road anyway. It goes through the woods and is a nice drive.

Pretty soon, I realize that the car is sliding a little bit and slow down even more. The road begins it's decent to the bottom of the hill and soon I see that the creek the road crosses is too high for me to drive through now. I look for a place to turn the car around but the road is a slippery mess and there are big boulders on both sides. I'm pinned here until the water goes down and I can drive through to the other side. I think about walking back to where the road begins, but I'm wearing flip-flops and that hill is getting slipperier by the minute. I can't decide what to do.

And then I think....time to wake up! I'm sure not going to stay asleep trying to work my way out of this conundrum for the next hour. So instead of getting another hour of rest, which I still need, I'm here telling you about it.

Do you do this? Wake yourself up from a dream you don't want to dream?

  1. yes, i do ... all the time.

but the dream makes total sense given your current situation, or it does to me.

  2. Once when I was a kid I realized my dream was about to turn into a nightmare, so I went around to the people in my dream and asked them to hit me on the head to wake me up. It worked, I woke up hitting myself on the head. :-)

  4. I've had a few in the past year where I have woke up screaming and also woke Hubby up. I quit eating ice cream before bed and the nightmares went away.

  6. Why can't I do that? What I really want to do is keep dreaming when the dream is good and I wake up before it's over! LOL!

    Singing hallelujah with you! :)

  7. I think you have to...I hate those dreams where I'm endlessly slogging through something or can't get ready in time for "something". Frustrated much? Methinks so.

    Nice picture!

  9. Sure do ... and at night as I settle in I can 'program' what I want to dream ... seriously .. all I need to do is close my eyes and let it play

  10. Many times!...As I am dreaming I will say to myself that I need to wake up...fortunately I have always been able to!

You had me scared for a minute!

  11. Interesting...I don't wake myself up...but if I see something, or feel something, disturbing during the day, I make myself think about it before falling asleep, so I won't dream about it. Works like a charm.

  12. I have many dreams such as those. Also reoccurring dreams. They often reflect the state of my mind. I have been told to listen to my dreams as they tell me about my subconscious, and can reveal the hidden.;)

I'm glad you stopped by and I look forward to your comments. As Dr. Fraser Crane would say, "Hello, I'm listening."
