A Magpie Tale

Opposite of the compass's true direction
sweat meanders in a southerly fashion

droplets of salt rim my lips, the margarita impression an intoxication of hot dreams and passion

shimmering waves tease my vision as heat rises in limber swells
I pray for cooling winds to extinguish this fire and wait here panting for September.

  3. I read this a few times before appreciating it, but I do like it. I'd like to know where this came from, however, how you developed its meaning and the inspiration..

  6. We had some rain last night so it is blissfully cool today.

Oh, I very much liked your Magpie and I do know the feeling . . waiting for September.

  7. Friends here in Naples tell me how HOT it is, but I do not notice it so much. I do not work up on roofs like they do--grin!

The heat wave extinguishes itself here in October--and then we get a new cannister which is not so rusty as the one in your photo.

    PEA (whew) CE!

  8. I was sweating so much this weekend, the skin above my upper lip tasted like salt on the glass of a margarita, too! Oh come, September! (or better yet, October!)

  10. Just up sails and come to Mooloolaba in SE Queensland. Days about 22C... um, times 5, divide by 9 plus 32. Ummmm... near enough to 71? Nights about 8, do your own math. One light comforter needed only. Felt the heat and the water in your emotive piece. Luverly!

  18. I can picture each phrase; well done! Speaking of margaritas .. they cost $1.75 each at a Mexican restaurant that we ate at yesterday. That's less expensive than a soft drink!

  20. I love your stories and I think I've missed a few.

I could feel the perspiration glistening on my upper lip and on my temples from reading this. Really effective writing, Stevie!

  21. I'm ready for fall, too! Summer has always been my least favorite. It's been especially hot and humid this year! ugh.
