Not in a Long TIme

I did something today I haven't done in a long time....

I drew something.

I drew it while I ate lunch and then added the hues in Photoshop tonight.

I should do that more often.

Two Sagas and a Belly Laugh

Have you seen this?

PBS describes Series I as a " story of a love polygon that shifts like a kaleidoscope."

Watch it....you'll want more. Series II is available as well. It takes up the story with a new generation of Forsytes.

When you're done and you find you crave more drama watch Downton Abbey.

It will leave you wanting more as well. Never fear, a second series is in the making.

When you've finished both of these great stories, but find you are in need of lighter fair....try this.

You'll laugh.

You'll be hooked.

Yuck!

The word of the day from Merriam Webster is......

mucilaginous\

adjective

1 :
sticky, viscid

2 :
of, relating to, full of, or secreting mucilage

Example:  The snail leaves a mucilaginous trail as it slides along the leaves and branches.

Recently, I told Elijah about slugs...how, during the summer, I used to walk outside at night and accidentally step on them in the dark. I made a face and said they were yucky. He thought that was funny and has repeated it to his mother more than once.  "Slugs, Gaga, yucky."  (I'm Gaga...his name for me) That's how he talks. He gets right to the point.

Once you step on a slug, you'll never forget the slimy goo that's left behind. I'm not the only one who's had to deal with cleansing a foot of squashed slug am I? (rubbing the afflicted foot repeatedly in wet grass is the preferred method of getting it off) If you've ever done it, you'll know that they are certainly mucilaginous!

Or you could wear shoes and never have to worry about having a slug crossing your path....that is as long as it isn't a human type slug....shoes are no protection against that variety.

Amazing

My son and his family returned home today. Power was restored to their corner of the world, so they packed up and headed up the interstate late this afternoon. It was fun having them here even if the circumstances weren't optimum.

I had no idea how many communities were hit by tornadoes on the 27th. Slowly, the news has trickled in. Everyone has seen the devastation in Tuscaloosa, but there are so many other places that were hit hard as well.

We were blessed. None of our friends or family were lost in the storm, but so many others were affected.  It's amazing to see the way people pull together in times of trouble. People giving of their time and money and know how.

I'm so proud of my community. Alabamians are amazing.
