It's a squirrel. I saw it! I knew it was big when spray paint cans started shake, rattle and rolling. It is tearing up the insulation around my heating ducts. Operation RID is underway! I called my closest male relative. My brother brought bird seed. We opened the garage door in the hopes that it is only trying to find it's way outside. We've left a Hansel and Gretal trail of birdseed to the outside.
Further update later.
Try a hav-a-hart trap.
ReplyDeletethis looks just like one of my squirrels! Glad it wasn't a rat, excep...it's hard to know what's more destructive, a squirrel, a rat, or The Mister....
ReplyDeleteThis picture is hilarious. I have to say though squirrels are as destructive and any other wild critter that happens into your domain. Be sure to find the place it is coming in and stop them in their tracks. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh funny...no wonder it sounded big enough to be a rat! Hope it finds it's way outside...forever!
ReplyDeleteFunny story, great photo. Sounds like something that would happen to me. As Lisa said, be sure to find the place it got in or he'll be back. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!
ReplyDeleteSquirrels are wily. The superman costume fits. Good luck in getting rid of it.
ReplyDeleteUse steel wool to block the entrance. Is it a red squirrel or a gray? Reds are notoriously destructive. The house that we gutted had red squirrel nests in the walls and in the ceilings. These nests were the size of bushel baskets, and boy did those squirrels ever tear the joint up. Just one more reason to gut the house. Like we needed one more reason.
ReplyDeletehee hee...funny...but hope you get it fixed!
ReplyDeletePS Check out my special blog post today for us artists! :D
Hmmm...speaking from experience with many squirrels on my porch - try anything with peanut butter, or peanuts of any description (shelled or not) and the Hav-a-hart trap is a good idea. (Remember our rat incident in the summer?)

Your squirrels are like rats aren't they? Not here... when we see squirrels here we feed them! That is.. we never see any. Only in the East of the country, and rarely. They are a different kind, they are small reddish-brown squirrels.
ReplyDeleteHey! I just left a comment on your post called "Eeeek!" about a squirrel infestation I had to deal with. I wrote that comment before I had read this post here. Anyway, I remember the battle I had, but not really how it ended. I'm not sure who won. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteEeeek! I'm with Debby - the have-a-heart trap sounds like a good idea! Squirrels are in hiding here - but once May hits they'll be full force! I know your pain! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! So glad it was only a squirrel. Am I wrong to think they're kind of cute? =}
ReplyDeleteHave a good, squirrel free, day!
Sarah
OMG! Your pest anecdotes are great! What is so darn funny, anyway, about squirrels and mice in the house? They are laugh-provoking to be sure. Thanks for sharing!
