Quiet in the House

the Texas crowd arrived last Sunday night

blow 'em up and let 'em fly

meet Miss Personality

 meet Miss Sweet-Cheeks

a few days after the snow melted, in true Alabama style, the temp soared up into the 70s...these poor, poor girls are leaf deprived in their part of Texas, so a part of the afternoon was spent raking and jumping

 let's dress up

my son gets in on the act...he is pretending to be Mama Ginger (from the Nutcracker) with all the little Gingers hiding under his skirts

 the reveal

Earlier this week, the house was filled with girls, gifts, fun, food, and dirty dishes galore.  There were books to read, stories to tell, paper and tape to make stuff, lots of running and whooping and a little bit of sickness as well. They left early this morning.

It sure is quiet this afternoon..

  1. oh , radiant joy.
    It's worth the chaos .

  2. It looks like you all had a GRAND time together. All of my company from out of state recently left too. My house is very quiet as well. At least our walls will echo with fun and laughter... if for awhile.
    Happy New Year to you!

  3. Ah, such great memories you made with the kids! Wow, they sure shot up in height this year! Oh Lord, slow them down. ~hugs~

  4. Oh how very fun! Looks like a wonderful time. Now, I bet you sleep well tonight! ha.

  5. Oh what a great time! CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!

  6. You have a lovely family, Stevie! It looks like you all had a great time!

  7. what fun...and yes, it always extra quiet then they leave and the missing sets in.

and ahhh, yes, the jumping - what fun!

  8. Oh, I can imagine how you miss them! My mom always says the same, the house grows so still when we all leave and we can be many as my sister has 3 kids.;)
Love all the pictures, there is so much warmth in them.;)
And in your weather as well - 70s in January, wow, we are lucky if we have that in July.;))
    happy Monday,

  9. Such gorgeous kids .. they all look like you!

  10. Cute pics with a lot of fun! :)

  11. It is amazing how quiet the house becomes after everyone leaves. Blessings to your lovely family!

  12. Don't you just hate that empty nest feeling. I bet you could do with a little quiet rest though.

  13. Oh what a bevy of little beauties. Lovely, sweet faces one and all.

  14. I can FEEL the fun and joy just looking at these photos! How fortunate you are!

  15. Do we detect a sense of relief in that comment Steviewren? :-) Dave

  16. From snow to 70 degrees! That just isn't fair Steviewren:-)

The Texas crowd look to be lots of fun - children create absolute mayhem don't they! It was manic at at my niece's house over Christmas with her two girls. I love em' but I must say I relish getting back to some peace and quiet!!

  17. What a wonderful family you have, Stevie! There is always such a joyful look in all your grand-children's faces. "Ms/Mr Ginger" made me laugh!

I'm glad you stopped by and I look forward to your comments. As Dr. Fraser Crane would say, "Hello, I'm listening."
