Drawn That Way

These guys were some of my favorite Saturday morning companions when I was growing up. Remember waking up early? Making your own bowl of cereal? Watching cartoons until noon?

The Flintstones

Rocky and Bullwinkle...Boris and Natasha

Popeye and his spinach

The Jetsons
Mighty Mouse

Yogi Bear and Boo Boo

I know it's a cliche, but folks they don't make 'em like they used to.

  1. It is not cliche, it is true.;) As I grew up in the East Bloc, I was not familiar with any of these until later in my teens when moving to Sweden. When I was a kid, there was no TV on Saturday mornings. All the cartoons were send in the evenings and they were either Russian or Czech, but they were really good. Even my Irishman remembers watching "The Mole" as a kid, a Czech animation that was exported abroad.;)
    Great post!

  2. Oh yes, I loved cartoon day. Then American Band Stand came on. My Sister is older so I was indoctrinated with her music. :)

  6. Super Friends and Loony Toons - those were my faves on Saturday morning.

and I can't think of a single animated anything nowadays that's worth watching - except for some of the Pixar stuff!

Just hearing Fred POUND on the front door of his stone house yelling, "WILLLLLLLLMAAAAAAA!" Makes me smile!!

  13. Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, et al always have me rolling around with laughter, but the new style of computer generated cartoons (with adult jokes thrown in) are not in the same league at all as far as I am concerned(or am I just too old?)

  14. Oh the memories! I watched every one of these cartoons AND the New Zoo Review with Freddy the Frog, Henrietta Hippo, etc. I totally agree our era was the best, most cartoons today are garbage!
