One Week Later

It's unheard of.

It's surprising.

It proves that it's been cold here.

It's been almost a week and there is still snow on big patches of my yard and deck.

It also proves that I have a army of squirrels that live in my backyard. See the acorn shells littering the deck? They have been hard at work all week, excavating their winter cache. The deck railings are covered with nut casings as well.

But, there are signs of hope.

Spring is on the way!

  1. We have too much snow on the ground to see if spring is on the way. I do have hope, though, that what is lying underneath the snow is thinking about Spring.

  2. Not a drop of snow here. Just cold winds blowing. Love the little blades of grass showing through the snow. :-)

  3. Looks like Ohio! :) Well, not the crocus. We're going to be having a high of around 12 this week! Brr...a sure sign our snow is not going to be melting.

  4. Betsy said it...our area is counting on a HIGH of 12! Ugh.

I need to throw out some bird seed as it has been so cold they are HUNGRY. The squirrels can STAY AWAY!

Jealous of the crocus! I think we are a long way off from that stage! Keep taking photos of them!

  5. They aren't crocus ladies, but rather a purple flower called widow's wort. I've got narcissus coming up in the front flowerbed as well. They both start bloomong around late March or April here.

  9. Amazing that you still have snow. Hang on to those little green promises of spring. It won't be long. I hope you get good news from your interview this week.

  10. Our snow has long since gone, replaced by mildish windy weather last week and a forecast for lots of rain today. Well at least nature will be stirring in the ground, I've seen crocus and snowdrop tips already.

    Spring is a-coming!

  12. I am glad to see there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. In a blink of an eye it will be sunny and warm. I have decided not to rush through any season, no matter how much snow is out there! Not to mention the cold! There I just did mentioned it. I hope you are making progress in the cleaning department. I need to buy a few of storage bags before I tackle my closet. That will be a big first step.

  15. We won't see spring peeking out until March..winter is such a long season up here! Our snow is hard as ice from all the cold weather. I hope more snow isn't coming tomorrow!

  16. We were through your area Sunday on the way home from the gulf, and could not believe how much snow was still on the ground. Hopefully it will melt off soon so spring can get started!

I'm glad you stopped by and I look forward to your comments. As Dr. Fraser Crane would say, "Hello, I'm listening."
