In the pursuit of

For a while now I've been contemplating my home, looking for snippets of beauty to photograph. Take a quick look at this blog and you will quickly see where I find my inspiration to take a better picture. Her photographs are profoundly beautiful while at the same time they retain a simplicity that I find nearly impossible to copy. (I know, I know...she is she and I am me...but I want to learn...to see beauty in unexpected places)

Anyway....I was so excited when I noticed the light in the computer room the other morning. I experimented and here are a few pictures I took.

Nothing profound, but it's a start.

  4. I had a feeling you were referring to that mod, mod, mod girl! It looks to me like you are getting the hang of it, Stevie. Lovely!

(I wish you had posted a pic of yourself hunkered down getting the shot of that chair leg!)

  5. Stevie, those are gorgeous! Good job. It all starts with simply picking up the camera with the intention of capturing beauty. The more you do it, the better at it and the more observant you'll get.

My favorite is the chair in front of the window. Such warmth and a variety of texture. The hardware on your desk(?) is beautiful.

Thank you for your very complimentary words.

  6. hehe....I also learned that I should dust more often!

  7. I heard that dust was actually residue from the stars. It's traveled a long way to decorate your house. This is what I tell myself, anyhow.

  12. Aaaah Steph, looks like you got a very good start!
Believe me, I too get very excited when I meet my yellow power, whether at home or office, no matter.
Yes, we can use more clarity and simplicity both in our messages and photos. In the end, the biggest risk is not to take any risks at all:)
Just let free your naturalistic view go down, and see how you can successfully take photos. Photography is an art of observation and more we observe more it comes out better shots.
All you need is to work w/ your eyes, later yr camera as a tool.
As simple as this. Chair and curtain made a gorgeous duo:) Inspired a lot from your today's post but today its chilly and crazy cold, no Sun:( N'joy it also for me~

  13. I agree, you have taken some great pictures. It is a simple style, I am a big fan! I also can agree about the dust, digital cameras do capture every little thing! I love how light filters through curtains.
    Have a wonderful day.

  21. A great beginning. It is funny that we often overlook the beauty that we have gathered around us after it has been with us awhile. A fresh look at our surroundings is a challenge and rewarding.
