Benchmark

I took this picture because these two patterns together make me smile.

How about you? Do you decorate with lots of color and pattern or do you tend to use mostly neutral colors. Has your style changed much over the years or do you mostly stick with the tried and true things you've always loved?

  1. It makes me smile too.;)
As you know, me the bohemian, I decorate with lots of colour and patterns and my home is filled with items of affection.;)

  2. I love texture. I must say that my house is mostly green and brown. I didn't know this until I got a white and black cat one time and she stuck out like a sore thumb in our house. Ha... I don't think my color pallet has changed over the years so much as my taste in furniture. Of coure the furniture hasn't changed much here because of the cost. If I ever win the lottery... things would happen. Of course one has to play the lottery before one could win. Ha.

  3. I like all sorts of color, patterns and textures together. But I also love neutrals. I use a mix of both.

  4. I'm a traditional in my likes and dislikes. I tend to use mostly neutral colors. My style did not changed much over the years. This benchmark is so lovely but its color could be different than brown if I was asked:)

  5. I'm a tried and true girl, myself. But I've always envied people who can put it all together, and having it look great... I always think, "I think that I could do that," but I when it comes right down to it, well. Somehow it always ends up being neutral. I love looking at your blog, because you are not a neutral kind of gal. Ever.

  7. You know me, the non-decorator with no "green thumb of decorating!" BUT, I've become more in love with COLOR over the years - lovin' my tiffany-blue bedroom! :-)

  8. I really like natural earthy colours with lots of pigment, in fact anything from the Farrow & Ball range of paint colours, really! And living in a period home I like 'heritage' colours. I'm not very good at putting patterns together so I tend to steer clear of big bold motifs but love crewelwork and some vintage pattens. The top cushion in your photo looks slighly celtic/medieval I think...

Oh and I loved your post on the Amish community. Great links. Thanks Steviewren.

  9. Lately I have been trying to achieve a restful feeling in the place, with light colors, calm patterns, few knick-knacks

  10. I love patterns, I may love them too much! I love to deocorate! My style has changed in the last few days! My house is in a constant state of change! It is a joke in my house that you can not sit still for too long or I will recover or paint you!

  11. You know me. I like the bright fun patterns, but I am usually to scared to use them to quickly. I have to sit on the idea for a while and warm up to the crazy patterns. Also, as usually, budget always comes into play.

  12. Color, color, color! Our house looks like a big Easter basket, with every room its own distinct color. We do all the work ourselves and it takes us forever, so I refer to our house as a big coloring book that we color one page at a time. I guess that's because I'm in charge of painting. Something about it satisfies that little child in me that wanted to draw on the walls. (And did so, on occasion!)
